Award Winners Revealed at UKAA Annual Build to Rent Conference Dinner & Industry Awards 2022

The UKAA (the UK Apartment Association) Annual Build to Rent Conference & Industry Awards saw 300 delegates gather together for a glittering dinner on 15th November, as the 2022 UKAA and HomeViews award winners were revealed.

Quintain Living – the management company overseeing the rental of more than 3,250 apartments in Wembley Park – scooped the coveted UKAA Sustainability Champion Award 2022 for the Quintain Living Utility Monitoring Tool.

Created by Quintain’s Senior Project Manager in 2022, the tool monitors utility consumption across the 3,250-home Quintain Living Build to Rent portfolio at Wembley Park. It automatically reads the water and electricity meters within each apartment every 15 minutes, then reports daily to Quintain Living’s operational team, highlighting any abnormalities and areas for concern.

Since implementing this innovative technology, Quintain Living has seen a measurable reduction in both vacant and occupied utility consumption across the portfolio. The Utility Monitoring Tool enables the identification of leaks and lights left on in vacant apartments, while for residents looking to live more sustainably – and save money – it’s the perfect solution.

Also honoured at the packed dinner and drinks ceremony was Stephanie Smith, who was awarded the UKAA Recognition Award 2022. Stephanie has been a firm supporter and active contributor to the Build to Rent industry. Her extensive experience spans the multi-family housing market in the US, as well as eight years in the BTR industry here in the UK.

Stephanie was recognised for her ‘hands on’ approach and dedication to BTR and her invaluable contributions to UKAA. A member of the Research, Education and Policy (REP) Committee, Stephanie was a leading contributor to the success of the Swift Bunny EDI Survey, in partnership with the UKAA, which serves as an industry benchmark for equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK BTR industry.

Congratulations go to both Quintain Living and Stephanie Smith for their impressive contributions to the Build to Rent industry. As BTR continues to mature, it will be innovations like the Quintain Living Utility Monitoring Tool and contributions such as those made by Stephanie Smith towards EDI that push us to both pursue and deliver excellence in a wide variety of forms.
