All fees are for 12 months of membership. In addition to the annual membership fee, when you sign up there is a one-off joining fee of £250. All fees exclude VAT where applicable.

How to join
To apply online you will need to provide details of:
- A nominated lead member with whom all membership communications will be directed
- Accounts contact name
- A summary about your organisation (up to 500 words) and your logo to be used to announce your new membership in the ARL NewsBuzz and on social media. (NB: We cannot announce your membership without this information). If you are a Supplier, Advisor or Agent, this information will also be used for inclusion in the ARL Market Directory which is being launched in 2026. As a Supplier, Advisor or Agent member your organisation will be included in the directory automatically. Members may opt out of inclusion in the directory at any time by contacting ARL in writing [email protected].

ARL Membership Terms & Conditions
The ARL is a Company Limited by Guarantee No. 9933511 and is governed by the ARL Articles of Association and by these Terms and Conditions. The Company exists as an association for the furtherance of education and professionalisation of the management and development of the private rented sector in the UK.
It is a condition of Membership that by joining the ARL, the Principal, Partners or Directors of the business agree to abide by the current Articles of Association and Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time. They are published on the ARL website.
- Introduction
1.1 These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between The ARL and its members (“Members”).
1.2 By becoming a Member of the ARL, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- Membership Eligibility
2.1 Membership is open to individuals and organisations who meet the criteria set out by the ARL.
2.2 An overriding obligation of all members is to behave and act in a manner that promotes and supports the ARL objects. Robust professional standards are expected and membership may be terminated if members act in a manner which could damage the activities or reputation of the ARL. Removal will be at the sole discretion of Board.

3.1 The ARL offers the following categories of membership and membership fees are published on the website and are based on the size of the member organisation in terms of turnover or homes under management/in development as follows:

- Application and Acceptance
4.1 Prospective members must complete and submit the membership application form which is available online or in hard copy.
4.2 Membership is granted upon approval by the Board and payment of the applicable membership fee within 30 days of application.
4.3 The ARL reserves the right not to accept a new member application at its discretion. In such cases the applicant will be notified within 7 days of the application being received and where a payment has been made a full refund will be given.
- Membership Terms and Fees
5.1 The ARL Membership term is for a period of 12 months running from the date we confirm your membership.
5.2 Membership fees are set by the ARL and published on the ARL website and may vary depending on the category of membership.
5.3 Fees are payable annually, unless otherwise stated, and are non-refundable.
5.4 Failure to pay membership fees may result in the suspension or termination of membership.
5.5 Renewal of membership is automatic at the end of each membership term and members are notified in advance that their renewal is due. Please notify us by email ([email protected]) with at least 30 days notice before your renewal date if you do not wish to renew your membership.
- Rights and Responsibilities of Members
6.1 Members have the right to:
- Attend and vote at General Meetings.
- Access resources and benefits provided by the ARL.
- Participate in ARL activities and committees.
6.2 Members are responsible for:
- Upholding the values and objectives of the ARL.
- Complying with these Terms and Conditions.
- Paying membership fees on time.
- Termination of Membership
7.1 Membership may be terminated by:
- The Member, by providing written notice to the ARL. A member may resign at any time although no membership refunds are given. The membership will continue until the end of its term unless agreed otherwise with the ARL.
- The ARL, if the Member fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions or engages in conduct detrimental to the ARL. Upon such termination, all membership rights and privileges cease immediately.
- The ARL in the case of non-payment of membership fees. A defaulting member will be given a minimum of three requests for payment to be made. Upon such termination, all membership rights and privileges cease immediately.
- The ARL reserves the right to refuse membership applications without providing a reason.
- Meetings and Voting
8.1 The ARL will hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at which Members may vote on key matters.
8.2 Special General Meetings may be called as needed.
8.3 Voting procedures and eligibility are detailed in the Memorandum and Articlaes of Association.
- Data Protection
9.1 The ARL will collect and process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
9.2 Members consent to the use of their personal data for purposes related to their membership and participation in ARL activities.
- ARL Market Directory
10.1 The ARL may publish a member directory featuring organisations within relevant membership categories. By becoming a member, organisations agree that basic business information (such as company name, website, logo and service category) may be included in the directory. Members may request removal from the directory at any time by notifying ARL in writing [email protected]. - Amendments to Terms and Conditions
10.1 The ARL reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.
10.2 Members will be notified of any changes, and continued membership after such notification will constitute acceptance of the amended Terms and Conditions.
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 The ARL is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by Members in connection with their membership, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
13. Governing Law
13.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom.

Supplier, Advisor and Agent members of ARL will be included in the directory automatically as part of their membership. Where no submission is received, ARL may create a basic listing using company information already held in the ARL membership database. ARL may also allocate an appropriate service category based on the information provided during membership registration.
