The Association for Rental Living (ARL) – formerly known as the UKAA (UK Apartment Association)
has introduced principles for a new Build to Rent Code of Practice that will be road-tested by
the sector to refine their implementation.
As the representative body for the institutionally backed, purpose-built rental livingThe BTR Code of Practice aims to elevate standards across the Build to Rent sector, establishing a social contract with consumers and building trust with all stakeholders, including the public sector. It defines a new benchmark for service, quality, sustainability, security and good governance across Build to Rent, demonstrating the standards and culture of the sector to government, policy makers and local authorities, as well as other stakeholders.
The Code is underpinned by a Customer Charter – a commitment from the sector on how it provides fairness and quality to residents. This is a draft at this stage. It defines a new benchmark for service, quality, sustainability, security and good governance across Build to Rent, demonstrating the standards and culture of the sector to government, policy makers and local authorities, as well as other stakeholders.
