800+ professionals and 60+ exhibitors to come together to explore key themes driving better BTR business

The Build to Rent (BTR) industry’s biggest trade show will take place this year on 20th April 2023, with UKAA the UK Apartment Association facilitating a range of thought leadership expert sessions focused on ‘Better BTR Business’.

The UKAA Build to Rent Expo will take place at London’s Business Design Centre, with over 800 delegates and more than 60 exhibitors due to attend.

The 2023 BTR Expo will commence with the popular ‘Reverse Trade Show’, with BTR operators and suppliers connecting on a one-to-one basis using a ‘speed dating’ meeting format. The Expo will then open to visitors from 10am (both UKAA members and non-members are welcome), with the first session run by HomeViews Co-founder Hannah Marsh. Marsh will be peeling back the curtain on BTR, sharing insightful findings from the 2023 HomeViews and Rightmove Build to Rent report on how the industry is performing for residents.

A ‘Call for Leadership’ session will follow with green asset managers, investment companies, data intelligence experts, sustainability leaders and more taking part in a lively debate on how changing regulatory and environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements are impacting purchasing decisions.

Next comes an in-depth examination of whole life costing and its place within an accelerating ESG agenda. Led by Iain Murray, Senior Director of Cortland Consult, the session will see the UKAA will share its whole life costing framework structure, supporting the development of a framework for UKAA members as ESG becomes increasingly important to operators and funders.

It is an exciting time for the BTR industry, with so many opportunities to do better BTR business, positioning the sector to unlock growth, drive forward customer satisfaction and deliver solid returns for investors. We are delighted to be bringing together so many leading voices within the sector to share knowledge and facilitate conversations about what the future could and should look like for UK Build to Rent.

Brendan Geraghty, CEO, UKAA

The afternoon session of the UKAA BTR Expo will kick off with FM Fever. Hosted by Tim Stephen, Director of Community Utilities, this new session will be a fun and engaging focus at facilities maintenance challenges – before Ben Tucker, MD of The Focus Agency Group will examine how a ‘meanwhile strategy’ can unlock commercial and social value from vacant spaces within BTR developments.

The final session of the day will look at optimising net operating income led by David Tomlinson, Associate of SAY Property Consulting, before UKAA CEO Brendan Geraghty & President Lesley Roberts provide an update including the UKAA Manifesto and deliverables for the year. Delegates will then be invited to join a networking drinks reception to ensure that all those present get the most out of the day, in order to deliver better business for the BTR industry as a whole.
