North East and Yorkshire Hub seminar and social
On 6 March 2025 the Association for Rental Living North East & Yorkshire Hub held it’s second in-person event, combining a reception with an insightful discussion on the continuing emergence of Single-Family Rental in the region.
Over 50 BTR sector professionals gathered at Moda New York Square in Leeds to network and hear from experts.
The event was sponsored by MINT Interiors – the window dressing experts – and focused on Unlocking Opportunities: Planning, Investment & Sustainability in Single-Family Housing.
In a discussion led by Dan Asquith of Building Research Establishment, and Vice Chair of the North East and Yorkshire Hub, we heard from Matt Lister, L&G, and Dan Newton, Hoare Lea, the key points were:
- SFR plays a huge part in meeting housing need and delivering towards Government targets
- People choosing to rent more and more, making a lifestyle choice
- People staying for long periods and are not the transient residents that Government and Local Authorities may think.
- BTR sector is committed to high standards and good stewardship – making repairs quickly and customer centric.
- There is increasing opportunity to work with house builders to specify for rent – not speculative sales.
- SFR allows builders to accelerate their site delivery. Speeds up the creation of place. Doesn’t compete with for sale
- Early engagement with housebuilders is essential on specification and financial deals.
- Customer loyalty is achieved through sustainability- green credentials and lower energy bills. SFR puts sustainability at the heart of home building from the start.
