New ASK4 report highlights connectivity as key factor for attracting and retaining BTR residents

ASK4, a leading provider of managed Internet and WiFi services for multi-tenant buildings, has released its latest report, ‘Building a True Home’, which reveals critical insights into how connectivity plays a central role in attracting and retaining renters within the UK BTR sector. In collaboration with SAY Property, ASK4 surveyed over 1,000 renters and conducted nearly 900 mystery shopping exercises across UK BTR properties.

 With the rise of remote work, smart home technology, and digital entertainment, renters now rank connectivity alongside location and price when choosing a home.

 

Key findings

  • Instant connectivity: “93% of renters demand WiFi to be set up within days of moving in.”
  • Connectivity influences renewals: “84% of renters would reconsider renewing their lease if the Internet connectivity was poor or unreliable.”
  • Missed marketing opportunities: “60% of BTR properties fail to mention WiFi during viewings, despite it being included in the rent.”

 As the need for fast and dependable Internet continues to grow, BTR operators who effectively highlight this amenity not only meet renters’ expectations but also gain a competitive edge. The report reveals that seamless connectivity isn’t just a perk, it’s essential for attracting and retaining residents in today’s market.
