Innovation and connection at heart of hugely successful UKAA Build to Rent Expo ‘24

  • 650+ registrants came together with BTR investors, procurement executives, operators and suppliers
  • UK’s biggest BTR trade show hailed as “enormous contributor to efficiency of future BTR operations”
  • Expert presentations and launch pad sessions hyper-focused on crucial BTR issues

The UKAA (UK Apartment Association) welcomed 650+ registrants and 54 exhibitors to its annual Build to Rent Expo 2024 on 29th February, with the hugely successful event paving the way for significant innovations and efficiencies in the Build to Rent (BTR) sector’s future.

The largest and only BTR trade show in the UK, the event served as an enabler for ‘making the connection’, bringing together investors, procurement executives, operators and suppliers.

Expert presentations and panel discussions covered a wide range of crucial topics. Rightmove’s Tim Bannister kicked off the day with an insightful presentation looking at consumer trends in BTR, while the afternoon session saw Cortland Consult’s Iain Murray focus on whole life costing.

Robust panel discussions covered the key principles of pitching to those procuring for BTR and an open conversation around effective facilities management, including the use of contractors versus in-house and managing external supply chains.

A total of seven informative Launch Pad sessions, a popular new feature for the 2024 event, took place during the day. They covered diverse topics including the future of latent defects insurance, zero cost energy bills, financing to meet ESG objectives, common BTR pricing mistakes and more.

The Expo, which was held at London’s Business Design Centre, included three busy reverse trade shows – speed-dating style sessions connecting operators and suppliers, investors and suppliers, and investors and operators. The format has proven hugely popular at previous UKAA events, both in-person and online, and was once again at Expo ’24.

Other networking opportunities were available throughout the day, with delegates supported to make the connections they need for the benefit of future Build to Rent business. The day concluded with a fast-paced FM Fever session, which put facilities management teams through their paces in a series of timed challenges. Ian Jones of HPS was heralded the worthy winner. A drinks reception then provided delegates with plenty of time for further networking, as a conclusion to the highly successful day.

No other event serves as such an enormous contributor to the efficiency of future BTR operations as the annual UKAA Expo. Delegates have had the opportunity to attend 12  expert presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions, while also enjoying unparalleled access to all those they need to make the connection with to deliver better Build to Rent business.
