Association for Rental Living names Greystar as Industry Standards Partner

The Association for Rental Living (ARL), the membership body for all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental living sectors, has named Greystar, a global leader in the investment, development and management of high-quality rental housing, as its Industry Standards Partner.

Greystar has been active in the UK since 2013 and has assembled a portfolio of around 16,000 homes comprised of its own acquired and developed assets alongside a growing third-party property management business, most recently expanded through the acquisition of Native Communities.

A Founding Partner of the ARL since 2016, Greystar has been central to shaping its work on professional standards over the past decade. Greystar’s involvement spans both strategic and operational Committees, Forums and Hubs, with representatives contributing at every level  events and Study Tour hosts.

Greystar is also a member of the Build to Rent Alliance, the cross-sector group chaired by Clive Betts MP that champions the continued growth of build to rent. The ARL is also a Founding Member of the Alliance.

Drawing on more than 30 years of global rental living experience across the US, Europe and APAC, Greystar has brought institutional-scale operating expertise and data-led performance management to the UK market, delivering insight-driven outcomes for residents, investors and partners across multiple market cycles.

As ARL Industry Standards Partner, Greystar draws on its platform of approximately 1.1 million homes managed globally to bring operational data and cross-market insight to the UK sector  underpinned by standardised procedures, transparent reporting and embedded ESG governance – for the benefit of residents, owners and investors.

Brendan Geraghty, CEO of the Association for Rental Living, comments: “Greystar’s commitment to excellence aligns with the ARL’s core value of setting the standard within rental living, defining and upholding the highest expectations for investment, delivery, and operations. Now, thanks to Greystar through this partnership, the ARL is able to further invest in setting standards across the sector for the benefit of all including, importantly, customers.”

Todd Marler, Senior Director – Third-Party Management, Europe, Greystar, said: High standards really matter in rental living because they shape residents’ everyday experience. As both an owner and operator in the UK build to rent market, we see first-hand the role the sector plays in delivering much-needed homes, and the impact that consistent, high-quality operations have on communities. Drawing on decades of international experience, partnering with the ARL allows us to work alongside the industry to raise standards that benefit renters, support investor confidence and ensure the long-term success of the sector.
