ARL welcomes continuity as Minister for Housing in Scotland remains in post
The Association for Rental Living (ARL) welcomes the announcement by the Scottish Parliament that Paul McLennan MSP remains in his role as Minister for Housing.
He has been tireless in his desire to deliver more homes in Scotland and was fully engaged in industry consultation around the Housing (Scotland) Bill, taking the time to understand the role and value of the professionally managed rental living sector, including both build to rent and single family housing, in meeting Scotland’s housing need.
The ARL has engaged with Mr McLennan on multiple occasions since 2023 through our dedicated Scotland Hub, contributing to the Bill consultation and working constructively to a deliver a rental sector that works for both tenants and housing providers.
We see green shoots of hope for the Bill with MSP Paul McLennan remaining in post and taking full responsibility for it moving forward. We look forward to continuing to work with him, and the Scottish Government, to provide the information required so that the Members of the Scottish Parliament, in whose hands the fate of those needing new homes now lies, can debate the Bill from an informed position.
