ARL responds to Housing Minister’s statement

The Association for Rental Living (ARL) welcomes the Housing Minister’s confirmation of support for the build to rent sector, as first announced last month in the Autumn Budget. This package, with an additional £3 billion available in housing guarantees, will help bring confidence to those building build to rent homes across the UK. Contractors are under increasing financial pressures with cash flow often an issue and so the guarantee scheme could help ease the situation and aid home delivery.
 
As the ARL has stated consistently, build to rent has a crucial role to play in addressing the housing crisis and it is encouraging to see that the Housing Minister shares this sentiment. Whilst we welcomed the reference made to the build to rent sector in the Chancellor’s Budget, we did call for further detail of the plans and are pleased to see that billions of pounds in guarantees are now available to housebuilders.
