UKAA – Swift Bunny Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Study
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) continues to be an important topic, as staffing challenges and rising costs elevate pressures on build-to-rent organisations. To improve understanding of employee and executive perceptions regarding DEI, the United Kingdom Apartment Association (UKAA) in coordination with the National Apartment Association (NAA) partnered with Swift Bunny during fall 2022 to conduct an expanded follow-up survey to monitor and evaluate DEI trends via a national survey. This study builds upon findings regarding DEI perceptions recorded in the inaugural study conducted in spring 2022. The results provide a growing narrative of the impact of DEI practices on the Build To Rent industry in the recruitment and retention of employees.
Though employees and executives alike agree that the diversity of leadership does not represent the population of the communities they serve, they also collectively agree that supervisors are doing well in creating inclusive work environments. Perceptions diverge, however, on matters regarding equity in pay, and the promotion of job opportunities to all employees. Most striking is the differing viewpoints between employees and executives on their company’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The complete results are available to download.
