UKAA Review of the Year – 2018
2018 has been a tremendous year for the development of the UKAA, mirroring the continued growth of the Build To Rent Sector.
Over the last 12 months, the sector has grown by more than 25% in terms of unit numbers, has been recognised as an official part of the planning landscape and emerging BTR schemes now form a major part of construction activity across the UK. We really are at a tipping point, as more and more schemes move from planning to construction and from construction to occupation! Our membership has also grown by more than 25% and we are now more than 170 strong!
As the sector grows. the role of the UKAA is even more vital, bringing everyone in the sector together, working to raise standards by focussing on our customers – their experience and aspirations, and by sharing knowledge and encouraging best practice. We, and you have achieved a lot in 2018 – our regular free-to-attend Roundtables in London and Manchester covering topics from Operating Structures, Recruitment and Talent Management to Managing Food Waste and successful study tours at leading schemes, our first Trade show, the creation of our Sky TV film Build To Rent – The future of Renting, important research into Urban Myths of Renting, launched at our a very successful Annual Conference and Dinner culminating in Acasa being awarded PropTech company most likely to change the BTR sector.
But this is only the beginning . In 2019 we plan to do even more to shape the future of Build To Rent. Key targets for next year include:
- – Broadening the range of services offered to our members – we will be launching a jobs board and forum in the New Year and increase the opportunities for networking and interaction;
- – Expanding the Roundtable programme across London and other cities to ensure that all our members can attend events that address the issues they face and enable experts in our industry to share their knowledge and best practice.
- – Developing much needed benchmarking data for the sector to measure performance and trends.
- – Working across the industry and with our partners in the NAA to create the “go to” location for BTR data and information
We kick off the year with the Innovation Trade Show on February 7th which will bring together the best and brightest ideas, services and products aimed at the Build To Rent market in one place on one day!
Finally thank you to all our members for their continued support in helping us to grow and shape BTR in 2019 and beyond!
Kind Regards
Dave Butler, CEO
